Maynard Civil War Carbine... EXCELLENT ... MIRROR BORE ... Layaway???
Description: Maynard Civil War Carbine... EXCELLENT ... MIRROR BORE ... Layaway??? Maynard Patent Cavalry Carbine With Subdued Factory Colors.......SN 13598....This is a excellent original Civil War cavalry 2nd model carbine of the Maynard patent, .50 cal.. This is the classic Civil War version of the Maynard cavalry carbine. Just behind the triggerguard is the serial number of 19,421. The action works crisply on all positions. The side of the frame has the correct Maynard patent mark and dates to go along with the maker's mark of the Massachusetts Arms Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. The frame still retains of the original case colors. The barrel is full-length with approximately 80+% + of the original bluing still remaining under the patina. In the MIRROR bore of the barrel it still has very clear lands and grooves present. The rear sight is present with both of the original two leafs remaining. At the breach of the barrel it has the inspector initials of "M" that is the initials of the inspector. The stock is a furniture grade piece of dark color walnut. The wood has both of the inspector cartouches on the backside and the other parts have the sub-inspector initials. These initials are where the gun was approved for military service by the two government inspectors. cartouches. one is the matching "A.J.N." for Augustus J. Noble and the other one is the "J.M." for James Mills. This is a fine looking Civil War Maynard patent cavalry carbine. May have had a coat of linseed oil applied to the stock, some time ago..... S/H $55.....2nd firearm ships "FREE" with this one. ...Thanks, Greg cp 5 Jul SOLD Antique: Yes Rifle Caliber: .50 Manufacturer: Edward Maynard Model: 2nd Model Serial Number: 13598 |
