Description: This one features a 28 inch part octagon part round barrel chambered in 40/60 Maynard. Equipped with a Beach combination flip-up front sight, a sporting style rear and the original graduated peep sight mounted on the tang. The frame has a faint four-line Maynard patent address on the left side next to the “1873" model marking. The lower tang has the serial number "24340" matching the number on the bottom of the barrel. Made with a hunting style butt plate on an extra fancy grained checkered walnut pistol grip stock and matching forend. The barrel surfaces are clean and smooth showing a good deal of original finish with thinning in places where it’s toning to brown. The bore is excellent, bright and shiny with strong rifling. The frame shows about 60% case colors. Wood is fine, with a crack visible on the left ahead of the buttplate, a few handling marks, and crisp sharp checkering. Comes with a metal box containing some custom brass shell casings, lead cast bullets, a bullet mold and other reloading tools.
