My Consignor Recently Purchased this wonderful rifle brand new and then discovered that it does not quite fit him, so much to his chagrin he is having me resell it for him, it remains unfired and in the same condition as it was received by him at my shop.  Below is the awesome write up the original seller/ importer wrote up about it, i don't believe i can do any better in describing it.

Offered here is a rare, New-in-Box Merkel 140A-EY LUX double rifle in the legendary .500 Nitro Express, combining robust German engineering with bespoke luxury and serious dangerous-game capability. What makes this example especially scarce—and desirable—is its factory case color-hardened action, a finish rarely seen on Merkel doubles and beautifully executed on this scalloped boxlock receiver.
This rifle features deep scroll engraving across the full action, masterfully signed by Merkel’s esteemed engraver Ralph Weiß, adding both artistry and collector-grade provenance. The Greener cross-bolt, double triggers (with articulated front), and automatic ejectors ensure flawless function in the most demanding environments.
Built for power, it weighs in at 10 lb 8.7 oz, striking the ideal balance for managing recoil without sacrificing handling. The 23.6" barrels wear a factory-installed quarter rib with a red dot mount, making this rifle optics-ready straight from the box. Iron sights include a standing express leaf, flip-up 50 and 75-yard leaves, and a ramped express front with silver bead—ready for quick sight acquisition when it counts.
The stock is cut from high-grade walnut with a rich, dark figure. It features a right-handed cheekpiece, crisp checkering, black grip cap, and a black recoil pad with hard heel insert—a thoughtful feature for fast shouldering. Sling swivel studs are factory-installed on both barrel and stock.
