Description:
Gebrüder Merkel over/under combination gun. Passing through the rigorous Suhl proof house in June of 1956.
French-gray finished hand-detachable 7-pin sidelock, double Kersten locking bolt, polished cocking indicators, articulated front trigger, and three-piece forend fitted for both barrels. Full coverage arabesque scroll relief on action. "GEBRUDER MERKEL SUHL" on underside of action. Blued top lever, lock plate lever, and non-selective safety slide. Horn capped pistol grip.
The 16-gauge barrel set measures 28" in length and is choked .025" (under) and .029" (over) with matted top rib. Ivory front sight with mid bead.
The 7x57R barrels measure 24 ½" in length and the claw mount has been converted to a pivot mount. They feature a beaded blade front sight and standing bar with single folding leaf rear sight. "BOHLER STAHL WEICHLOT SUHLER WAFFENWERK" is engraved on right side of barrel near breach and "BOHLER STAHL WEICHLOT GEBRUDER MERKEL, SUHL" on the left side.
Small parts and trigger guard have been reblued, cheekpiece removed, and a new Pachmayer Decelerator pad installed. Comes with Zeiss Diavari-C 1.5-4.5x18 scope and original horn butt plate. 7lbs 9oz as shotgun, 8lbs 8oz as rifle, and 9lbs 12oz with scope. Both barrels sets tight, bores are bright and rifling sharp. Bluing is in good condition with some signs of use.
