This package includes the following.
Iconic Lee Enfield No1 Mk 3* SMLE rifle in .303 British Caliber from the Ishapore factory. Model of 1941. Bolt, receiver, barrel, and front endcap have matching numbers. I enjoy firearms a lot and this Enfield is no exception. There are many people that like the original as issued look, which often is oil soaked, chipped, cracked, gouged, scratched, or plugged stock. Why have a nice rifle that looks like a canoe paddle from a summer camp for kids. Would you have a ’65 Mustang that was rusty, dented, worn seats, and faded paint? I recently purchased the complete walnut stock from a maker in England, and had it professionally fitted to the rifle by Lee Shaver Gunsmithing. As you can see from the photos it is a beautiful piece of wood and workmanship. In the photos you will see a S&B cartridge with a 180 gr FMJ bullet inserted into the muzzle of the 25 ½ inch barrel; the bullet does not go all the way into the muzzle. The rifling looks very strong and bright. Also, a fired case does not have the large swelling near the base common in these military rifles. The stock was given a few coats of linseed oil at Lee’s shop, and I put on an addition 12 coats hand rubbed into the wood. Additionally, there are 12 coats of Renaissance on top of the linseed oil. The sling is new as well.
