"Cadet Size U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Musket (AL6063)

"

This 69 caliber smooth bore percussion U.S. Model 1842 musket has been reduced to cadet size. The overall length is approx. 51.5"". The approx. 35.75"" barrel has a good dark bore with light roughness. All the metal is bright with scattered staining. The barrel breech has the V over P over eagle inspection marks. The lock has the eagle over US at the center and SPRING over FIELD over 1854 at the tail. The shortened two band stock is very good with an indention on the left flat for an inlaid plaque. The forend has a step where the original middle band was located. The action functions correctly. This interesting gun may have been altered for military school use.
