Foreign Purchase Remington No. 1 Type 4 Rolling Block Rifle in .43 Spanish
Description: Serial #11152, .43 Spanish, 35" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle has the tang markings used on Rolling Block rifles made between ca. 1874 & 1888, and has a mixed gray and pale brown patina along the barrel, with a darkly mottled brown patina on the flat-sided Type 4 frame. The rear sight is from a different model and the ghost of the original sight is still visible on the top of the barrel. The walnut forend and buttstock have numerous small handling marks and surface blemishes throughout the thick, added varnish finish. Large issue markings are present on either side of the buttstock: "2 / 16" on the left; "1 / 121" on the right. The action is fully functional and the rifle rates good plus condition overall.
