Norwegian Antique PillarBreechConversion 1821 Jager Military Rifle .72 Perc Made by Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk
Description: Norwegian Antique PillarBreechConversion 1821 Jager Military Rifle .72 Perc Made by Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk Here we present an antique Norwegian Pillar Breech Conversion Model 1821 Jager Rifle, made by the Kongsberg Weapons Factory. These were originally made as flintlocks and nearly all were updated to percussion in the years following. The Jager has a relatively short length overall and a large military caliber bore. The stock is full-length and the right side of the stock has a sliding wooden patchbox that includes a worm/cleaning jag tool inside. These were made with a bayonet lug for a long saber bayonet. The sights were ahead of their time, being large, robust, and the shooter could choose their range with different leaves and apertures on the rear sight, but they were still very simple and user friendly. This one has an ink inscription on the interior of the sliding patchbox lid which reads: “C.S. SMITH #308 From FORSVARS MUSEET in trade 1983”. This is the Armed Forces Museum in Norway. The overall condition is very good. Original patina. The action is excellent. The doglock action is excellent. The bore is in very good condition with strong rifling. The stock is solid. Numbers match throughout. These Jager rifles are very scarce, especially in the US. Barrel is 29 inches in length. Caliber: .72 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
