US Model 1816 Flintlock Musket by Starr (Percussion Conversion)
Description: NSN, .69 cal., 42" barrel with a fair, pitted bore. This musket has an overall dark, plum-brown patina, and matching 1839 dates on the “US / (sunburst) / N. STARR"-marked lockplate and barrel. There is dark freckling throughout, and pinprick pitting at the breech, heaviest around the cone-style conversion (the nipple is a fairly new replacement), and the remnants of the brass pan has turned a dull yellow-ochre over time. The walnut stock is in very good shape, with small handling marks and minor surface blemishes scattered about the wood, and even some feathered grain on the buttstock just behind the wrist. The buttplate tang has a rack number (“36"), and the inspector cartouche is crisp and clear. A correct, all-metal ramrod is included and the action functions flawlessly. This is a very good-fine example of a converted Model 1816 contract musket, made by Nathan Starr. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Starr Model: 1816 Caliber Info: .69 Gauge Info: .69 |
