US Property Marked Mfg. by Savage 303 British cal. Mk 1 No.4 with Bayonet 1942
Description:
From a Midwest sale, a U.S. Property marked Savage Mk 1 No. 4 303 British caliber rifle. At the sale they said this rifle was part of America's Lend Lease program prior to entering World War II the US supplied weapons to the allies with the program. Savage manufactured the British rifles and shipped them to England. This rifle has a very strong action and spring with a good extractor. 24" round barrel with a decent bore (I have not cleaned this rifle). The action, trigger and bolt function as they should. The receiver and barrel of the rifle are a grey patina (see photos). The rifle has a receiver mounted, two position, peep rear sight and a fixed blade front sight. The stock and forend are solid with no cracks or chips; however, there are dents and dings in the wood from the last 80+ years. The stock is fitted with a steel, military style butt plate with trap door for cleaning rod (see photos) there is no cleaning rod present. The rifle came with a British Military issue bayonet but no scabbard (see photos). Everything functions as it should and shows World War II wear. The rifle appears to have been maintained but not used for years (I have not cleaned this rifle) (see photos). I'm offering this historic rifle with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
