Description:
One of very few toggle action rifles that were tested by the US military, the Pedersen rifle was a direct competitor of the M1 Garand. After completing a small run at the Springfield Armory, the balance were assembled by Vickers & Armstrong in the UK. Fewer than 300 rifles were completed. The top of the chamber is stamped "C/2", "PEDERSEN SELFLOADER PA/VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS LTD." on the left side of the receiver, the bolt fitted with a "SAFE" and "REDY” marked crossbar safety. Usual ventilated metallic hand guard with additional ventilation holes in the lower surface of forend. Correct sling swivels and buttplate.
Condition:
VG+ original condition with near excellent metal components, the stock oil darkened with a scattering of handling marks, particularly the small dotted indentation on the right side adjacent to the action. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A very attractive, all original, Vickers Pedersen Rifle with a relatively low serial number, the last serious competitor against the M1 Garand.
