Winchester US Model 1917 Enfield

Description:
US 1917 Winchester Rifle, Excellent original blued condition. About 75% of WW1 GIs were issued this rifle due to the inability of Springfield and RIA arsenals to meet needs. Caliber 30-06. This rifle has the original black/blued finish, not Parkerizing. Winchester never used parkerization for the 1917. All Winchester rebuilds, re-arsenals, etc. are parkerized. The rifle has been completely disassembled and checked to insure all parts are correct. Most have the eagle head along with the W signifying original manufacture, not replacements. All parts were coated with a wax/oil blend before re-assembly. The finish is outstanding exhibiting little wear. Bore is extremely bright with no pitting, fogging, etc. Lands are sharp. Muzzle erosion measures at an excellent 1. Chamber throat erosion is just as good and under 1. Barell is W, 5-18. Ser.# 295716. I have no doubt that this is the original stock but it has been refinished. The stock is original Winchester with a W on the end. You can see where the inspector eagle head stamp was placed in front of the trigger housing. There is also an inspector stamp to the rear of the trigger housing. The wood is in extraordinary condition and almost absent of dings/dents and goes well with the excellent condition of the metal. An original nickel plated cleaning tube is inside the butt plate. I’m selling due to advancing age. If you plan to fire this rifle, you should have it checked by a competent gunsmith first. No one knows what has happened to it in the last 107 years. Shipping can be to a C&R holder or FFL1. Shipping is by Fedex Ground $50 flat, I’ll absorb any overage. Payment by certified bank check or money order.
