Scarce SPANDAU Model 71 Mauser Cavalry Carbine
Description: This is a Rare Model 1871 Carbine was made by Spandau way back in 1879. The 1871 Carbine was adopted in 1876. This one has lots of matching parts, down to the screws. There are only a couple of parts that do not have numbers. This Mauser looks great for a 144 year old Military Rifle. Unlike most examples I gave seen, this one has not been polished clean but retains the majority of its original bluing, turning dark plumb. The bore is bright and clean, with sharp rifling. The markings stamped on to the metal parts are all legible. The receiver does have minor pitting, with heavier on bolt handle. The buttplate is stamped 5.D.4.108. This means that the carbine was issued to 5th Dragoner regiment, 4th. company, rifle no. 108. The stock is in good plus antique condition, having numerous small bumps and scratches to be expected on a military firearm of this vintage. A Model 1871 Carbine is a Rare find. This one will add nicely to a Mauser collection. For more on the Mauser Model 1871 Carbine see pages 153 to 155 of Robert Balls’ book, MAUSER Military Rifles of the World. Payment by USPS money order or cashier’s check only. Buyer pays actual shipping via USPS Priority insured. $950.00 SOLD Rifle Caliber: 11x60mm Mauser |
