A nice example of a classic WWII Type 99 Japanese infantry rifle with ground mum, anti-aircraft rear sight, monopod, and near-mirror bore. Unusual in having a matching dust cover!
Description:
Standard configuration WWII production Japanese Type 99 infantry rifle with 26" barrel, cal. 7.7mm, matching, with anti-aircraft rear sight, ground mum, matching dustcover, original cleaning rod and monopod. The left side of receiver is stamped with SN: “71769” that is repeated “769” on the bayonet lug and all components of the bolt assembly to include a matching extractor, safety, and firing pin. Matching dust cover SN: "769". It has the standard front and rear sights, this example with the anti-aircraft wings on battle/ladder sight graduated from 3-15. Hardwood stock with finger grooves on the sides and handguard with unnumbered barrel band. Fitted with a cupped sheet metal buttplate, wire monopod, and reproduction, arsenal marked, leather sling.
Condition:
Overall VG with original finish on all of the salt blued parts. Ground mum with usual handling wear and oxidative flecking, prominent patches on the magazine floorplate and trigger guard bow. Handguard and stock have been lightly sanded and properly refinished with correct color varnish. Reproduction sling is near excellent. Near mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics.
