"Serial no. 9448. Manufactured circa 1943 by Nagoya Arsenal, chambered in 7.7x58mm,25 ½"" round barrel. The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. Serial and assembly numbers are matching. The rifle has been refinished at some point, and the imperial chrysanthemum (“mum") has been ground from the receiver. The Type II Paratrooper rifle was specifically designed for Japanese airborne forces and features a unique takedown system allowing the rifle to separate into two sections for transport during parachute operations. Due to their specialized role and comparatively limited production, Type II rifles remain among the scarcer and more desirable Japanese military firearms of WWII. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
