**SOLD**Saginaw (GM) M1 Carbine Chambered in .30 Carbine Caliber **Mfg 1944**
Description: **SOLD**For consideration is nice Saginaw (GM) M1 Carbine made in 1944. The M1 carbine (formally the United States Carbine, Caliber .30, M1) is a lightweight semi-automatic carbine that was issued in the U.S. military during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. The M1 carbine was produced in several variants and was widely used by paramilitary and police forces around the world after World War II. Despite having a similar name and physical outward appearance, the M1 carbine is not a carbine version of the M1 Garand rifle. On July 1, 1925, the U.S. Army began using the current naming convention where the "M" is the designation for "Model" and the number represents the sequential development of equipment and weapons. Therefore, the "M1 carbine" was the first carbine developed under this system. The .30 Carbine (7.62×33mm) is a rimless carbine/rifle cartridge used in the M1 carbine introduced in the 1940s. It is a light rifle round designed to be fired from the M1 carbine's 18-inch (458 mm) barrel. This particular M1 Carbine was made by Saginaw (GM) in 1944. Everything works as it should and the action is buttery smooth. It should be considered to be a fine representative piece for the era. It of course has some wear and handling marks but nothing serious. This M1 Carbine would be a great addition to a collection of US militaria or a fine shooter.
