"Serial no. 3636977. Manufactured circa October 1943 by Saginaw Steering Gear Division, chambered in .30 Carbine,18"" round barrel marked “INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/11-43." The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The carbine has been upgraded with typical post-war features including a bayonet lug barrel band, Type III stamped adjustable rear sight, and rotary safety. The low wood stock has been lightly sanded. Saginaw Steering Gear was one of several General Motors divisions contracted to produce M1 Carbines during WWII, with many rifles later updated for continued post-war service. The carbine is equipped with an oiler and sling. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
