"WWII Winchester M1 Carbine with Post-War Alterations .30 Carbine (L2026-06482)
Description:
"Serial no. 5588126. Manufactured circa 1944 by Winchester Repeating Arms Company, chambered in .30 Carbine,18"" round barrel marked “W." The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. The carbine has been upgraded with typical post-war features including a bayonet lug barrel band marked “AI" (Inland), rotary safety, and a Type III stamped adjustable rear sight. The low wood stock has been treated with a light coat of linseed oil and retains faint Winchester factory cartouches on the right side. The left side is marked “RIA/EB," indicating re-arsenal at Rock Island Arsenal. Winchester-produced carbines are among the more desirable WWII variants, and post-war arsenal updates such as these reflect continued U.S. service use. The rifle is equipped with a sling and oiler. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
