M1 Carbine Winchester #1061447 - 1942 Production
Description: Although Winchester was awarded the patent for the M1 Carbine in WWII the Inland Manufacturing Division of General Motors beat them to the draw for having the first produced M1 Carbines by a couple of months in the Fall of 1942. Winchester issue M1 Carbines began with serial number 1000000. The serial number of my rifle being 1061447 makes it a 1942 produced rifle and is equipped with the first version of all parts types. The parts that you will be hard pressed to find on M1 Carbines for sale today is the I-Cut Stock, detachable Operating Slide Spring Tube, Full Conical Extractor Plunger, Type 2 Push Safely with Checkered Face, L marking on right side of Front Sight, Type 1 Dog Leg Hammer, Serrated Faced Magazine Catch, and 2X Stamped Recoil Plate Screw. I may have missed one or two. The remainder of the parts on this rifle are correct based upon the serial number, production block, production part type, and date of manufacture. I used Roger Larson's book "Comprehensive Guide - M1 Carbine" to verify the authenticity and accuracy of the parts of this rifle. This book is 829 pages of nothing but M1 Carbine information and history along with over 4,000 high quality photos. There are several other similar published M1 Carbine books available that nearly duplicate Roger's book, but I use his to maintain consistency in my assessment of each rifle. Although this rifle is fully functional it carries no expressed or implied guarantees. This rifle is being sold in compliance with all state and federal firearms sales and shipping regulations.
