My Underwood M1 Carbine with serial number 2742289 was manufactured in the second block of production btween July 1943 and March 1944. All of the parts on this rifle are USGI produced and are correct for the date, type, dimensions, stamping identifications, and manufacturer for this serial number as verified by using the book "Comprehensive Guide - M1 Carbine" by Roger Larson. The book has 829 pages and over 4,000 quality color photographs I used to verify and validate the correctness of this M1 Carbine.
As evidenced by the photographs, based on its condition, this rifle likely did not encounter the battle field. The overall condition of the oval cut high wook stock, all metal parts, and the barrel bore are better than excellent, if that is possible. There are no armorer rebuild stampings on the under side of the chamber and the stock is stamped correctly in the sling well, handguard, and right side of butt stock. All of the parts that should be I.D. stamped are correct with either the .U. to signify Underwood, or the Flaming Bomb icon. I will not list all of the parts and their stampings but can provide an entire data sheet for this rifle if you are further interested. I will post what I feel are some of the most important pictures in this ad, but I have over 150 more I can email you for further evaluation.
