End of War Production US M1 Garand Rifle by Springfield Armory
Description:
Serial #3756799, .30-06, 24" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle has a May, 1945-made receiver with mixed period SA parts including: "S-A-9-42" dated barrel, "D35382 9 SA" unmodified op-rod, "D28287-19-SA" bolt, "D28290-18-SA" trigger group, "C46008-9 SA" hammer, and "SA-11" safety. The metal retains about 85-90% of an added blue finish that has scattered patches of dark pitting here and there, as well as gray fading at the muzzle, along the high edges and projections, and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. The magazine cover plate retains a commensurate amount of an applied black finish, very similar to British Suncorite. The walnut handguards have been lightly sanded with some minor handling marks, while the stock has been more heavily sanded throughout. There are numerous small handling marks and blemishes with lighter areas where the finish was removed. A crisp and clear
modern added "S.A. / N.F.R. (Ordnance crossed cannons)" cartouche present on the left side of the stock. Both a plastic oiler and small grease jar are present in the stock compartment, and a foreign khaki M1 sling with "46" issue number on the clasp is installed. This is a very nice Garand, in very good-near fine reworked condition, and would make a nice addition to a collection. FFL or C&R;
