This matching International Harvester M1 Garand, a post-WWII semi-automatic military rifle made 1953/1954, cal .30-06, in near excellent condition with small match-grade fiberglass reinforcements in stock and a mirror bore.
Description:
International Harvester U.S. M1 Garand semi-automatic U.S. military rifle, cal .30-06, whose production spanned from 1953-1956, this example having been made in 1953/1954. Rear of received marked "U.S. Rifle/Cal. 30M1/International Harvester/full serial number 4495411". Fitted with post front sight, aperture rear sight and walnut stock with light squared cartouche on the left side and large, deep encircled "P" on forward pistol grip. Limited disassembly shows an IHC marked gas cylinder plug, right side of windage knob, bolt, trigger group, and operating rod. Barrel channel in stock is #1432, a number that was never matched to the rifle SN, and fine, perfectly centered, fiberglass reinforcements on each side of the mag well and trigger guard extension.
Condition:
Near EXC with original parkerizing. Barreled action with only light sharp edge and operational wear. Thinning under trigger guard. Exterior of stock is near excellent with a repaired hairline crack at wrist, a few handling marks, disassembly showing inserted reinforcements that were likely installed as a match prep. Mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics. A beautiful and matching M1 Garand U.S. military rifle made by International Harvester Corp. with internal stock reinforcements as often seen in rifles used for serious competition.
