Springfield M1 Garand, WW2, March 1943, Survivor, All Original Condition, CMP Cert. SN: 1,480,976
Description: The serial number dates this rifle to March 1943, and the barrel is marked with an appropriate date of: 2-S-A-2-43 (Feb. 1943). The barrel has no chrome plating surrounding the gas port hole indicating it remains in WW2 configuration. The barrel has seen service as the Muzzle Wear measurement is 3 and the erosion in the chamber area, typically called Throat Erosion, measures 6.5. This is complemented with a bright bore having modest frosting. This bore is certainly not Match rifle condition but adequate for a fun day at the range with an original survivor rifle. The three pieces of wood are all matching condition and color and have minor dings and bruises expected of an 82-year-old battle rifle. There is the correct P marked on the inside of the pistol grip and a red “21” painted on a white field on the pistol grip heel. Most likely a rack number and easily removable with a bit of paint stripper. The SA / EMcF & Ordnance wheel stamping on the left side of the stock is worn & faded but still visible as can be seen in the photos. There are no post war inspection marks. This one likely went into stateside service somewhere until replaced with a “modern” rifle. It was likely released to the DCM / in the late 1970’s or 1980’s. All component parts of this rifle are correct as shipped from Springfield armory in 1943. Including an Un un-modified Op Rod. The accompanying Data Sheet lists these parts. The rifle will be shipped with the CMP Certification and Manual as shown in the photos. This is an opportunity to obtain an outstanding WW2 M1 Garand that you know is historically correct and in excellent condition. Rifles like this are exceedingly rare and very collectable. .30-06. Cal. with a 24” barrel.
