"London Small Arms Co. Lee-Metford Mk II Bolt-Action Rifle .303 British (59005)

Description:
"Serial No. 8955a, manufactured 1893, .303 British, 30"" round barrel with sharp rifling noted. A well-preserved example of an early British smokeless-powder service rifle, this Lee-Metford Mk II retains matching serial numbers, with the magazine correctly unnumbered. The spine of the receiver bears the appropriate Broad Arrow / S.K. / Crown / B / A0 inspection and property marks. Rifle remains in very good overall condition, with the stock showing expected handling marks from military service. Desirable volley sights remain intact. The top of the receiver is marked “EY," indicating that at a later date—most likely during the First World War—this rifle was designated for “Emergency Use Only," a special marking applied to older rifles kept in reserve for homeland defense or secondary service roles. Action is smooth and functions correctly. A strong and historically significant example of an early LSA-produced Lee-Metford Mk II, retaining important features and markings.
