Fabrica De Armas FR8 chamber in 7.62x51 NATO. The FR 8 is a bolt-action rifle adopted by Spain in the 1950s. The "FR" stands for Fusil Reformado in Spanish ("Converted Rifle" in English) It is based on the "Mauser 98" bolt action rifle. It was introduced in the 1950s and this rifle is stamped "1956". The FR-8 was developed from the Model 1943 short rifle, based on the "large ring" Model 1898 Mauser action. Both rifles were modified to fire 7.62×51mm NATO. The under-barrel tube serves as the bayonet mount and as storage for cleaning gear. The flash hider was designed to also function as a rifle grenade launcher and is warranted due to the muzzle blast from the short barrel and powerful cartridge. 7.62x51mm
