Fabrique Nationale, Belgian produced FN-49 contract rifle for the Argentine Navy. In total, just over 5,500 were shipped in 1954. Originally chambered in 7.65x53 and featuring the standard length 23" barrel. The Argentine Coat of Arms Crest is a top the receiver bell. Adjustable sights and adjustable gas system by removing the hand guard. All of these rifles were converted in the early 1970's to NATO 7.62x51. In this process, stocks were refurbished-all on a different as need basis. One will find different markings remaining. This example still presents it's original serial number on the right side. The conversion lead to the use of a 20 round box style magazine. Import marked in 2003 as per import requirements. The muzzle cap was also welded for import. This rifle has a repaired hand guard as shown. The gun appears to have re arsenal grease still present. The bore is excellent.
