Description:
Gustloff Werke Karabiner 98k bolt-action rifle manufactured in 1943, coded “bcd” on the receiver ring and chambered in 7.92×57mm. The receiver is marked with Waffenamt WaA749 inspection and is marked “Mod. 98” on the left receiver wall, with serial number 4704g applied in standard military font and repeated on each of the barrel bands. The rifle is fitted with a Brünner Waffenwerke AG barrel marked “41 bys,” with adjacent inspection marks. The bolt assembly is matching throughout, including the bolt knob, extractor, bolt head, safety, and firing pin. The laminated stock with matching handguard and stock, the stock numbered on lower spine, the number repeated in barrel channel of both handguard and stock, fitted with cupped buttplate marked "brg". Complete with original sling, hardware marked ""L&F".
Condition:
EXC original condition with sharp edge wear and areas of thinning, especially the magazine floorplate and bottom of trigger guard, as one might expect from a service rifle that has seen light-moderate combat use. Comparable condition stock without touch-up having a scattering of handling marks and a few superficial bruises. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics. VG+ sling.
