Pre WWI German Mauser. This has the German military unit marks, which were marked out by Xs when removed from service. S marked receiver indicating that it was factory converted to accept 7.92x57 Mauser ammo and stripper clips. The majority of bluing is still intact, and the rest has a nice patina to it. the magazine is about 50% blue, and 40% patina. I am not seeing any pitting on this rifle. The bore is is great shape considering the age, and the rifling is very strong. The wood stock shows use, has original stampings, and is in excellent original shape for it‚‚s age. This rifle is NOT import marked, and is NOT one of the Ethiopian imports. Unfortunately, a previous owner electro-penciled his Social Security number on barrel between sight and receiver on the right side, but it is not very noticeable from a distance (see pictures).
