1884-90 U.S. Springfield Cadet (RARE)
Description: This rifle comes to us on consignment....and there it is nothing short of AMAZING that these units still exist and are just sitting around in someone's closet somewhere out there! What you have here is a real, bonified piece of Americana. Take a look at this rifle! Let us put this in perspective...have you ever heard of General Custer's "Last Stand?" His troops carried a similar Springfield 1873 Trapdoor model, whereas this 1884 is supposed to be an improvement. Really, that means the rear sight is a little bit better. Other than that, this is very close the model 1873 his troops carried in the field. She's chambered in the same .45-70 Government caliber his troops would have used in their 1873's as well. The action on this rifle seems to still function perfectly and we put a bore light down the barrel for fun...and WOW, the lands and grooves are in shockingly good condition. This particular model was the "Cadet" length of which only 12,000 units were made and probably carried in training. What an amazing piece! Don't miss your chance to hold and fire a piece of history!
