EXCELLENT SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1816 H.&P. CONVERSION RIFLED MUSKET FOR NEW JERSEY DATED 1861.
Description: EXCELLENT SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1816 H.&P. CONVERSION RIFLED MUSKET FOR NEW JERSEY DATED 1861. Only 8000 of this First Model made for the State of New Jersey in 1861. Rifled 3 groove .69 cal. 42” barrel dated 1861 and stamped “N.J.” at the breech. Also stamped “H&P” and proofed with an oval “P” proof. 100% original and in superior condition with most of the case hardening on the lock and the crisp patinated finish showing much original brush polishing on the barrel. The mounts show much original brown. Superb stock with all the finish and mint cartouches. The word “MOUNT” is stamped near the cartouches in two places. This may be a New Jersey Armory marking. Superb near mint bore. Original ramrod. This is the best of these early war H&P’s we have had. Most we have seen have been well used. SOLD Antique: Yes |
