Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Carbine, 45/70 with very decent bore, 416XXX range (1889 manufacture).
Description: #1437 Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Carbine, 45/70 with very decent bore (8+ on a scale of 10), tight action, 416XXX range (1889 manufacture). This little Cavalry carbine is a standard 1884 variation and does have the correct serrated trigger, barrel, lockplate, breechblock, buttplate, etc. It also has the correct and very desirable Buffington windage adjustable rear sight. The metal is smooth plum blue-brown with no pitting of mention and very good markings. The wood is fine and has almost no dings or bruises but has no visible cartouche on the left wrist ….although it does have a dim “circle P” proof mark behind the trigger guard. The bore is FAR better, especially for the carbine version as these saw such hard action in comparison to the Infantry rifle configuration. A really decent and nice appearance veteran of the Indian Wars. VG/VG+ overall. $1795 SOLD Antique: Yes |
