Very scarce Roberts conversion of a pattern 1858 sergeant’s rifle. Overall length is approximately 50". The 30.5" round .577 center fire caliber round barrel has a fine, bright bore with strong rifling. The barrel has approx. 85% blue turning brown. The action is a smooth gray/brown. The brass trigger guard, nose cap, and butt plate are fine. The stock is very good with the expected nicks and dings of an issue gun and a couple of small chips along the ramrod channel. The stock is numbered 4713 on the left flat. The left side of the receiver is marked Robert’s Pat/June.11.1867. The ramrod is marked T&C C(o). The lock is unmarked. 273 is stamped in the wood at the tail of the lock. The action functions correctly. This is a very nice example of the very scarce Roberts conversion. It would fit any collection focused on early cartridge guns or British military rifles.
