1884 Springfield Saddle Ring Carbine Trapdoor 1873 1878 1879 1888
Description: Original Springfield 1884 Trapdoor calvary carbine. U.S. marked on buttplate. Manufactured in 1887; only 5,000 manufactered in that year. Eagle head proof and VP on barrel. Buffington rear sight marked with "C" to designated it as the carbine sight. Compartment in butt stock, there is a visible cartouche on the left side of the wrist and a circle "P" visible under the butt stock by the trigger guard. This rifle is in nice condition. THE BORE IS NEAR PERFECT! The metal finish is mostly a shiny dark brown patina. This carbine has been in a private collection. All metal stamping is crisp, and there is no pitting. All indications are this carbine has no replaced parts and is in pretty much a vintage state from the amory. 3 day inspection period as long as not fired, disassembled and returned in undamaged condition.
