Antique ITALIAN Torino Arsenal VETTERLI
6.5mm Caliber INFANTRY Rifle Made in 1883 & Served as Late as WWII
Description: Antique ITALIAN Torino Arsenal VETTERLI 6.5mm Caliber INFANTRY Rifle Made in 1883 & Served as Late as WWII Here we present an antique Italian Torino Arsenal Vetterli Infantry Rifle, made in 1883. Like several other European countries in the late 19th Century, Italy hardly seemed able to keep up with the latest and greatest firearms technology in the fierce arms race led by France and Germany. This rifle itself underwent three significant changes, hence the three different Model dates which are the Model 1870, the Model 1870 87, and the Model 1870 87 15, in its very long service life that spanned from 1870 all the way through World War II. It was made as a single shot bolt action rifle to begin with and was made into a repeater with the installation of the Vitali magazine, finally being brought into the smokeless powder era with the rechambering into the 6.5 Carcano. At various stages they were put into storage, then brought out again to fight. These rifles would have seen use by Italian troops in WWI, then in the hands of Italian colonial native troops in WWII. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright bore. This example sports a solid stock and a few stable period repairs. Visible numbers match. The barrel is marked “1883”, the year of production along with proof and acceptance markings. Legible marks. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 33-1/2 inches. Caliber: 6.5mm Italian Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1300 #220180 SOLD Antique: Yes |
