Antique Military Pattern FLINTLOCK “Stoeger Company” Attributed .74 MUSKET
Made from BELGIUM Surplus Military Components
Description: Antique Military Pattern FLINTLOCK “Stoeger Company” Attributed .74 MUSKET Made from BELGIUM Surplus Military Components Here we present an antique Military Pattern Stoeger Style Flintlock Smoothbore Musket. This style of guns was available from the Stoeger Company in their store in New York as well as their catalog back in the 1940s through the early 1960s. These guns were not made by them but were mostly left over African trade guns from Belgium. Some may have been made specifically for the Stoeger Company but almost all used French pattern Belgian surplus military parts, including buttplates, trigger guards, locks, and other components. This musket features a smoothbore .74 caliber barrel with iron furniture. It has a full-length stock and simple, standard components. This is the type of indigenous musket that would have been sent over to the American colonies in the years surrounding the post-American Revolutionary War era. Guns such as this would have been a staple in the homes of most everyone living in the countryside, to both provide food for the table or to protect against both man and beast. As late as the 1950s Belgium was loaded with obsolete gun parts dating back into flintlock times. That's how Dixie Gun Works came to be, the founder Turner Kirkland went to Belgium and shipped a lot of it back here to an eager market. The overall condition is good. This example is refinished. A brown patina is advancing through the muzzle. The stock is good showing no cracks or repairs. The action is strong with a re-converted lock and swapped trigger guard. The bore is dim but good for the age. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 37 inches. Caliber: .74 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #250662 SOLD Antique: Yes |
