Model 1857 M57 Dreyse Needle Fire Cavalry Carbine
Description: This is a rare Dreyse M57 Prussian Cavalry Carbine made in 1870 for the Franco-Prussian War. Basically, it's an early bolt action rifle of single shot design that fired a charge rolled up in paper via a small needle. The needle is still intact and I understand most of these after 150 years have been broken. Lots of proofs and markings on this one with matching numbers throughout. Overall, NRA Antique Good Condition...solid wood and metal with the wood showing a good bit of cavalry usage with the sling rings still intact. There is a bit of wood filler near the buttplate on the left side (see photo) but doesn't look to be very deep or anything serious outside of cosmetic. The metal has turned to a frosty silvery grey with good markings. It hasn't been filed down or sanded and all of the markings are good and deep. Hopefully, as I learn more, I can add to the description. These rarely come up for sale in the United States and this is the first one I've ever found. Antique, Pre-1898. No FFL required. $40.00 shipping. Price: $3,250.00 Antique: Yes Manufacture Date: 1870 Contact Seller |
