Model 1867/96 Danish Remington Rolling Block, 11.7X51R
Description: The Danish government licensed the manufacture of the 1867 Rolling Block from Remington and built the first 30,000 on Remington actions (this being one of them) thereafter they built them on their own actions at the Copenhagen Arsenal. These rifles were originally rimfire cartridge guns and were converted to centerfire in 1896 along with fitting the longer rear ladder sight. The 11.7X51R cartridge is close to the US .45-70 Government however, they were a bit shorter. A .45-70 will function in the 11.7MM chamber but, being longer may cause an overcrimp which is potentially unsafe. The body of the 11.7MM is slightly larger in diameter and will cause a .45-70 to expand at the base. SOLD Antique: Yes Caliber Info: 11.,7X51R Danish (NOT INTERCHANGABLE WITH .45-70) Metal Condition: This rifle appears to have had the receiver nickel plated and shows the buff marks and typical pitting for the age. The barrel exhibits the plum brown patina and Wood Condition: Generally in very good condition but, shows a small crack on the left side of the butt at the butt plate. The right side of the butt stock shows the brass Unit disk common to these rifles Bore Condition: Bright with strong rifling Barrels: 35" With side mount Bayonet Lug Stock: Uncheckered Military style straight grip Stock Dimensions: 12 5/8" LOP Fore End: Full length with three barrel bands, sling swivel and cleaning rod Butt Pad: Metal carbine style Weight: 9 lbs 4 oz Sights: Barley corn front sight, Long Ladder rear sight Item Location: Grand Junction, CO |
