Original Antique M1870 Peabody military rifle

Description:
I believe this to be a M1870 43 caliber Peabody military rifle made for France and captured and stored by Germany during the Franco Prussian war.  The rifle is in very good condition with correct bayonet and  period leather sling. .  The full walnut stock is in very good condition with nice color and appropriate markings.  The barrel has most of its blue color  and a couple areas of rust (see photos).  There is still good case hardening on the frame and all markings are strong.  Also this rifle has proof marks in front of the receiver and on the barrel the "crown over V consisting of a V topped by a "Charlemagne crown". Which is a German proof mark showing a weapon in storage by the Germans.  Suggesting it was either captured or confiscated by Germany during the Franco Prussian war. ?????The rifle is complete with sling swivels, cleaning rod, bayonet and a period sling .
