Original Untouched Civil War Confederate 1864 Dated Fayetteville Rifle In The Black North Carolina
Description: This gun is out of my personal collection. If you've been waiting for a completely untouched Confederate Fayetteville, then this is the gun for you. It is exactly how it was found in 2019 in a house in Charlotte, NC. Nice and crusty. Commonly referred to as a Type IV per Murphy & Madaus, this gun originally took a socket bayonet and has the distinctive S shaped Fayetteville hammer. Retains a pleasing patina overall with some rust and pitting. Lock works well. Lock markings are still clear. 1864 dated at the tail of the lock. C.S.A. under an eagle on the lock just before FAYETTEVILLE. Lock is in good working order. The brass is nice and dirty too, with the C.S.A. on the buttplate tang still clear and the U mark on each barrel band. The rear band was put on backwards at some point a long time ago. Both sling swivels were removed sometime during its period of use, same with the rear sight. The ramrod appears to be a shortened Austrian 1854 Lorenz rod with brass at the end. The front sight was period modified to a simple blade. Wood has dings and handling marks, still has the somewhat worn but still present PB cartouche on the left side. There are some age cracks in the stock that are solid. There is also a piece of wood missing from behind the bolster. The bore is dark and crusty, has rust and most likely pitting. The barrel date is no longer visible due to pitting, but you can make out the proper V P proofs. You'd be hard pressed to find a more "in the black" condition gun than this one. A 100% honest and true Confederate made and issued rifle. ANTIQUE! Buyer pays $150 shipping CONUS, including full insurance and tracking. AK & HI are extra.
