Description:
NSN, .50 RF, 20 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore.
This is a very handsome carbine that retains about 50-60% of muted, original color case-hardening on the receiver, with the balance turned to a mellow plum-brown and patches of mild freckling scattered throughout.
Brighter original color case-hardening is still present on the protected areas of the under lever and interior of the action.
The barrel retains traces of original blue blending into more plum-brown along its length.
The walnut forend and buttstock have minor handling marks and surface scratches marring the thick, added military oil finish, with no visible Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche.
The action is tight and functions flawlessly.
The original cleaning rod is also included.
Only 1,002 of these carbines were produced to fill an 1864 government order with delivery in May of 1865.
This is a rarely encountered carbine in very good plus condition, and would make a nice addition to any collection of US or Civil War weapons.
