U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1869 {CADET} TRAPDOOR RIFLE

Description:
.50-55 (50-70 cadet) caliber, 29 5/8" barrel secured by two bands. Casehardened Springfield lock dated 1864. Trapdoor action dated "1870". All dimensions correct for the 1869 cadet including the 15 5/8" separation between the barrel bands. Full length stock bear the correct "ESA" cartouche on the left flat. Serial number 2824 located on the left side of the barrel and on the receiver. In superb original condition with the barrel and bands having much of the bright polish. Strong casehardening remains on the lock and the breechblock showing the dark oil quenched casehardening. Mint bore and mechanically excellent.
