British Pattern 1914 Mk. I Rifle by Eddystone (Target Conversion)
Description: Serial #42978, .303 British, 26" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is an "ERA" marked rifle that has the post-1922 modification (removal of the volley sights), and has "EY" (Emergency Use) markings added to the left side of the receiver, right side of the buttstock, and on the barrel breech under the rear handguard. P-14 Mk. I rifles were often marked with the "EY" stamp due to a lack of parts interchangeability between rifles made by different makers (Remington, Winchester, and Eddystone). Matching numbers are present on the receiver, barrel, and bolt with the metal retaining 95-97% of the armory blue finish that has silvering at the muzzle, and on the bolt body and bearing bearing surfaces. The walnut stock and handguards are in fine shape with only some minor handling marks and blemishes scattered about the surface, and the original Eddystone Mk. I markings are still crisp and clear on the right side of the butt: "(defaced Broad Arrow) / IE (in circle) / PATT.’14" The original rear ladder sight was removed and replaced with a period Parker-Hale No. 5B rear sight with adjustable aperture disk. This is a splendid Pattern 1914 Mk. I rifle, with a great period target sight mounted, and is in fine-near excellent condition overall. FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
