Very Good Snider MK III Cavalry Carbine
SALE PENDING
Description: This is a better than average condition example of a Snider MK III Cavalry Carbine in .577. The side plate is marked with a British Crown over “V.R.” for Victoria Regina, a pointed crown over “1870 / ENFIELD”. The top of the breech block is marked with a few proofs including a broad arrow over “WD”. The interior of the breech block is marked with 2142 and broad arrow. The left side of the chamber ring is marked with a few proof marks. The top of the chamber ring is marked “III”. The left shoulder of the barrel is marked with several British proof and inspection stamps including broad arrows and crossed flags in addition to the word “STEEL”. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked with the serial number, B841. The top of the buttplate to the rear of the screw is marked with the same broad arrow proof found elsewhere over R9 / D / 1. The right side of the buttstock is marked with facing broad arrows over an Enfield crest and 1. The barrel retains about 50% silvered blue finish. Bore is very good plus. Stock has typical small bumps and bruises typical on a military rifle of this age. Left flat at receiver stamped EA over 1881. Action is crisp and tight. Cleaning rod in buttplate trapdoor. The only thing missing is the scarce leather rear sight cover. All in all, a very desirable military carbine. $1400 + Shipping. Price: $1,400.00 Contact Seller |
