Eddystone Model 1917 .30-06 – 1918, 10/10 BORE, BAYONET, SLING, vintage firearms
Description: General Specs: Eddystone, 1918, .30-06, 9lbs. 9oz., LOP 13 1/2" Serial Number: 883732 Vintage firearms is pleased to offer the US Model 1917 Enfield or officially as- The United States Rifle, caliber .30, M1917, sometimes dubbed the “American Enfield”. Upon entry into World War I the US found itself lacking the M1903 rifles needed as Springfield armory had faced production issues. Thus, the US Armed forces turned to Winchester and Remington who were already producing Enfield rifles for the British Armed forces, so adapted the Enfield design to meet the US military’s needs. The rifle was rechambered to fire .30-06 and the volley fire sites were removed and became the unofficial service rifle for the United States. By the end of the war M1917s outnumbered M1903s and more GIs were issued Enfields than Springfields. Today The Model 1917 is still issued by Denmark to the Danish Sirius Dog Sled Patrol in Greenland. This example, serial number 883732, produced by Eddystone (a subsidiary of Remington) in September 1918, the barrel is dated November 1918. The gun has a mint mirror bore and weighs 9lbs. 9oz. No American military collection is complete without a Model 1917, add this fine combat rifle to your armory! This Eddystone rifle ships out with a bayonet and sling.
