U.S. Model 1917 Enfield Rifle - Parkerized Rework
Description: Eddystone Arsenal was the manufacturing plant responsible for producing the Remington contract Model 1917 rifles for the U.S. goverment during 1917 and 1918. During World War II, the Model 1917s were called back into service and used by the American armed forces for training purposes and limited use as supplementary service rifles. Also, large numbers were distributed to some allied nations under various military aid programs. After 1945, substantial numbers of Model 1917 rifles were sold via the Office of the Director of Civilian Marksmanship (DCM), and some have even been offered through the Civilian Marksmanship Program in more recent years. Many rifles were subsequently “sporterized” by the civilian owners for hunting. The large number of rifles given away to allied nations and the practice of sporterizing resulted in unaltered Model 1917 rifles being surprisingly scarce today relative to the number manufactured. - AMERICAN RIFLEMAN by Bruce Canfield This example retains a solid parkerized finish with no pitting; please see images to assess the condition for yourself. The stock has no major dents or fractures. The bore is dark but the rifling is still very sharp. The muzzle has a good crown. It is a great shooter. The heavier weight makes recoil quite tolerable. The sights are absolutely excellent and the trigger is a consistent and tactile break. Payment can be with a certified check or money order. Shipping via USPS is $90 and includes a hardcase. Please include an FFL copy with payment, or send in an email. If there are any specific pictures you would like or questions you have, please email me; I will get back to you promptly.
