German K98 Mauser Borsigwalde 1939
Description: For Sale a pre-war Mauser Borsigwalde manufactured K98 with receiver code 243 from 1939. Straight up bolt mismatch of an early K98, probably made in the Spring before the start of the war. The bolt is number matching to itself and is an early Mauser Oberndorf bolt with e/63 proofs. Kind of interesting the cocking piece is number matching but is marked S/42, probably an early armorer replacement. Rifle has a really nice look to it, screws aren’t buggered, everything that should be numbered and proofed is down to the locking screws. The bandspring is e/26 proofed but not numbered which I believe turns up with Borsigwalde rifles in 1939. Rifle is duffel cut, it’s completely hidden by the rear band and is tight when assembled, no wiggle on the fore piece, and wood color matches the stock nicely. Note when the soldier duffel cut the rifle he cut really close to the rod nut, it was loose when I got the rifle, I added a spot of glue to hold in place. Stock has seen use but all proofs are present, unsanded, and internal has raw wood with both handguard and barrel channel serialed. Not cut for front site hood and cleaning rod is a correct 10” one, it is marked “K” but no number I can see. Borsigwalde was a satellite plant started by Mauser Oberndorf to handle the ramp up in K98 production during the 30’s, rifle is a great example of a pre-war gun. Rifle is not import marked and comes with a 3-day non-firing inspection period. Rifle must ship to FFL or FFL C&R. I will ship to CA with proper transfer. Know your local gun laws and make sure you can receive the rifle before purchasing. Shipping is $40 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
