Description:
J.P. Sauer K98k bolt-action rifle, serial number 5337e, manufactured in 1939 and marked with factory code “147” on the receiver ring. The receiver, barrel, bolt assembly, and major components marked with E/77 military acceptances. The left receiver rail is marked “Mod. 98”, and the rifle is fitted with a matching barrel, both barrel bands, and tangent rear sight assembly. The matching bolt assembly includes a numbered bolt knob, cocking head, safety lever, extractor, and firing pin. Matching trigger guard and floorplate. Original walnut stock with acceptances on grip and matching serial number/letter suffix on lower spine and buttplate. Complete with replacement cleaning rod numbered "85", an unmarked steel muzzle cap and a period-correct German leather sling.
Condition:
VG+ original finish J. P. Sauer K98k rifle with wear as appropriate to a military arm that has seen moderate service throughout World War II. Sharp edge wear and contact-related thinning in usual locations. Stock with a scattering of handling marks and bruises, particularly the buttstock, with a few shallow gouges, no suggestion of touch-up. Bright bore with sharp rifling. Correct manual mechanics.
