Description:
This is a pretty good example of the Prussian Model 1809 "Potsdam" musket dated 1850. This was among the last of this model and purpose built as a percussion musket. Large quantities of these were purchased by both the Union and Confederate governments early in the Civil War. It is a .72 smoothbore. It is in overall good plus antique condition. The stock has been lightly sanded and refinished. Faint cartouche on left side. The barrel has a silvered grey patina with mottling. The bore in the 41.5" barrel is pitted, but very shootable. Just needs a good Evaporust soak. The lock is strong. Markings worn. I believe they say Saarn, one of the Prussian arsenals. I believe these qualify for N-SSA smoothbore competition. Also good for general ACW reenacting. $650 + Shipping.
