Description: Spectacular UNFIRED Mauser 71/84 11MM German Military Rifle C. 1888 Offered here and just acquired is perhaps the finest example of this model military rifle that we have acquired in more than 5 decades in our business. A truly remarkable piece of military and collector history. This antique German Mauser Model 71/84 rifle, serial number 7218is ALL original, matching and in UNFIRED condition. The M71/84 was the first repeating bolt-action rifle officially adopted by the German Empire, evolving from the single-shot Mauser Model 1871. It represents a pivotal step in military firearm technology, being one of the earliest military rifles with a tubular magazine (8-round capacity), predating the iconic Gewehr 88 and Gewehr 98. It was issued in relatively small numbers compared to later Mausers and was quickly rendered obsolete by smokeless powder rifles, making well-preserved specimens exceedingly rare—especially matching, all-original, and unfired examples such as this. Serial Number 7218 it is all and in unfired condition- extremely rare for a military rifle of this age. The specimen retains 100% of itys original blued finish on barrel, bands and appropriate parts. The rifle has "unissued" wood -Crisp edges, minimal handling marks, and its sharp cartouches suggest it was never issued or used in service. Near-Mint Bore: Reflects the overall pristine condition and adds significantly to collector value. It has only a very slight ninor patina- a single spot of age-related patina is expected and does not detract from value. This rifle is far beyond the typical antique military surplus firearm. Its museum-grade condition, coupled with documented provenance from a prestigious collection. We will offer a documentation letter to accompany the rifle denoting its inclusion in a major collection.
