Arisaka ~ Type 99 ~ 7.7X58MM
Description:
This Arisaka Type 99 bears many examples of the desperation of Japanese late war production efforts. For starters, you can clearly see the roughness of the stock and that it is in two pieces towards the rear as this saved on wood. Next is the very rough job on the back of the receiver. You can also see they did not even drill a hole for the cleaning rod below the barrel end. This particular example shows us several things by the serial numbers on the left side of the receiver. To the left is the Series mark of 24, followed by the serial number of 79212, and finally the Kokura arsenal mark. On the top of the receiver you can clearly see the Japanese Imperial chrysanthemum (or Mum for short). Surprisingly the bore is somewhat clean. 7.7 Japanese
